She recalls that just as she turned forty, that day she received a call from a medical institution about a preventive cardiovascular program. It includes an electrocardiogram, cholesterol, and other tests. After assessing the risk, the next visit is scheduled after one, two, or four years.

“Even before this screening program, I regularly checked my cholesterol, which was always excellent, so I had no problems. Imagine my surprise when the numbers in the test table were red. Total cholesterol had not yet reached 6, but it was close – 5.95. Although I usually do not overemphasize numbers, these I did not like at all. It seems I exercise and my diet is not that tragic, but the result is not good. The doctor also mentioned stress, which can affect cholesterol and does nothing, and we all experience stress and it is especially difficult to avoid – the only thing left is to manage it,” Milda recalled.
