Most – 30 violations – were related to not wearing safety helmets, two intoxicated electric micro-mobility vehicle drivers were identified, as well as one case of reckless driving.
On August 15 at about 00:28 in Klaipėda, Kairių St., officers stopped a scooter driven by a 15-year-old youth. Officers recorded that he, out of hooligan motives and endangering traffic safety, suddenly increased speed and rode with the front wheel lifted.
There were also a couple of cases where minors drove motorcycles without having the right to do so.
On August 15 at about 17:34 in Klaipėda district, Trušelių village, an electric vehicle was stopped for inspection, driven by a 13-year-old child. The motorcycle was not registered according to the established procedure, uninsured, and had not undergone the mandatory technical inspection.
The child’s parents were called to the scene, and an administrative offense report was drawn up for handing over the vehicle to a person not authorized to drive it.
On the same day at about 7 p.m. in Klaipėda district, Slengių village, officers stopped a 17-year-old youth driving an electric vehicle. After inspecting the vehicle and measuring its speed, it was also determined to be a motorcycle, requiring an A1 category driver’s license. In this case, the motorcycle was also not registered according to the established procedure, uninsured, and had not undergone the mandatory technical inspection. The youth was issued an administrative offense report for driving without the right to do so.
Officers draw residents’ attention to the fact that not every electric vehicle is considered an electric micro-mobility vehicle – the legal status of the vehicle depends on its technical parameters. Therefore, before driving it or allowing a minor to drive it, it is necessary to ensure whether a driver’s license is required and that the vehicle is properly registered and meets all applicable requirements.
