Unlike the gut microbiome, which mostly lives in the digestive tract, the oral microbiome is the first community of microorganisms encountered by food, drinks, and external environmental microbes entering the body.

However, the condition of the oral microbiome often receives too little attention, as many dental or gum problems may initially go unnoticed. Over time, imbalances in oral bacteria can affect not only the oral cavity but also overall health.
