“I like to call fruit nature’s snack that you can take with you. They naturally contain little sodium, are rich in vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants, and satisfy the craving for sweets without added sugar,” Dr. L. Wright tells Parade.
Although all unprocessed fruits can be good for the heart, she highlights those rich in potassium.

“One of the greatest fruit kings, when it comes to heart health, is potassium. It helps neutralize the effects of sodium by encouraging the kidneys to remove excess sodium, and it also helps relax blood vessels. Both of these processes contribute to healthy blood pressure,” explains the dietitian.
