It manifests as fat accumulation in liver cells and most commonly affects people who are overweight, have diabetes, or have elevated cholesterol levels in the blood. Although this condition is often asymptomatic, it is dangerous because it can progress to steatohepatitis, causing cirrhosis or liver failure.
