Urtė and her mother Aušrinė say that they have always had a passion for making desserts, so when the holidays approach, they don’t even stop by the store, they make everything themselves at home. Canelés are quite an expensive dessert, so instead of buying them, Aušrinė came up with an idea – why not try baking them at home?

Can only be ordered in summer
“The first time didn’t work out, the canelés ‘popped’ over the mold and turned out not to be canelés, but little mushrooms,” Aušrinė laughs. Although the interviewees did not study pastry making, over a long period of experimentation they managed to find the perfect canelé recipe, according to which they have been baking desserts for more than 4 years.

After so many years, I already know how properly mixed dough should look.
In Kunigiškės, the Vilnius residents live only during the summer period, so canelés can also only be ordered in summer. As soon as they started baking canelés, the neighbors, according to the interviewees, were the very first tasters and are still the most loyal customers. It’s no surprise, as when visiting, the whole house smells of the sweet aroma of canelés!
