I understand that Poles do not read my texts, and even if they tried to read them, they probably would not understand anything, but Lithuanians do understand. And they still swim. And in general, the water area around the bridge should be completely fenced off because whirlpools constantly form there and the sea currents are even more treacherous. It is not safe to swim there even in calm weather, and when the sea is rough, the danger is at its maximum.
Although what am I explaining here, on Saturday life itself practically showed the consequences of swimming under the bridge. It is angry and frustrating that everything ended so tragically. It so happened that I also had to be near the bridge that evening, but unlike many, I did not film anything because I think it is not ethical towards the families who experienced the tragedy. I wonder, would you like it if thousands of gawkers’ phones were pointed at you in the face of personal misfortune?
It seemed as if the whole of Lithuania had come to Palanga.
Still, I will not start explaining how to live here, but rather continue my Palanga chronicles because I am still sitting here. And why not sit if summer is still here? On that tragic Saturday, for example, the weather on the coast was simply wonderful. So wonderful that it seemed as if the whole of Lithuania had come to Palanga – I had never seen so many cars in that city this summer.
