According to the festival organizer Karolis Bakutis, this event brings together masters passionate about quality food, their fans, and those who simply want to enjoy a great summer day in the city center, according to the organizers’ press release.

“This is truly a unique event in Vilnius. We can confidently say that the food presented at the festival is of higher quality than in many Lithuanian eateries – because it is fresh, prepared in front of festival visitors, inventive, and even playful.
Moreover, there are no participant competitions or overeating contests here. It is a snapshot of burgers, street food culture, and good times, in which a few thousand people want to be immortalized,” said K. Bakutis, head of the “Jump!” agency.
As every year, festival visitors prepare at least one burger specially for the festival or improve an existing one on their menu. The organizers note that one of the strongest trends this year is burgers with smashed patties.
Here you can also try burgers with octopus, with beef and shrimp (surf&turf), vegetarian options, or a version with potato pancakes instead of a wheat bun. Of course, even classic burgers are enriched with a multitude of condiments, sauces, pickled, fermented, smoked, crispy, slow-cooked, and otherwise prepared toppings made by the participants themselves.
Every year, about 8,000 people visit the festival, which lasts 12 hours from noon until almost midnight. The organizers invite you to take advantage of the nearby Kūdrų park and organize a family, friends, or work picnic.

The history of the dish known worldwide as a burger began in the early 20th century in the USA. It was influenced by the pastrami prepared by Litvaks in New York, which was served with bread, or the famous Reuben sandwich, named after the immigrant from the Lithuanian territory who created it.
In the West, the gourmet burger trend rose about three decades ago – then chefs realized that this dish, previously classified as fast food, is an ideal playground to implement various gastronomic ideas.
More than a decade ago, the trend of refined burgers reached Lithuania. Specialized places began to appear in Vilnius and later in other Lithuanian cities, and solid restaurants included this dish in their menus. Like all food trends, it underwent transformations, yet the burger became one of the most beloved dishes in Lithuania – democratic and at the same time giving a sense of uniqueness.
The festival will take place on August 5 at Vilnius Tymo Market (Maironio/Aukštaičių St.), from 11:00 to 23:00. Admission to the festival is free.
