How to cook pasta correctly:
- First, you need to boil water and salt it.
- The chef notes that Italians are used to cooking pasta in quite salty water, so salt is a very important part of this process.
- After that, you can add the pasta to the boiling water.
However, oil, as many like, should not be poured directly into the water.
“No oil. Just take a spoon. And stand nearby for a minute and stir,” the chef noted.
How long should you cook pasta and how to check if it’s done?
To prevent the pasta from overcooking, the chef recommends not relying solely on the time indicated by the manufacturer on the package. The pasta should be taken off the heat a little earlier.
“Cook the pasta 2–3 minutes less than indicated on the package,” advises the chef.
One simple way to check the pasta is to take one piece out of the pot and cut or bite it. The chef draws attention to the white part inside. That is what indicates that it’s time to take the pasta out.

Is it necessary to rinse pasta after cooking?
When the pasta reaches the desired state, O. Ogorodnyk advises rinsing it with cold water. According to him, this is the final stage of pasta preparation.
However, there is an important nuance: if the pasta is prepared in advance, it should be mixed with a small amount of oil. Proper pasta preparation requires a little attention to detail but guarantees an excellent result.
By giving up unnecessary habits, such as pouring oil into boiling water, you will maintain the perfect pasta texture and taste.
