„The best advice is to make movement a natural part of your daily life. This is the healthiest approach,“ he said, adding that changing habits is difficult, but in the long run, it brings the most benefits.
He does not give up his morning and evening routine
The man follows a specific exercise routine every day, which he calls the main reason for his good shape, writes postimees.ee.
„Upon waking up, I do gymnastics and stretching exercises, push-ups and squats, use a climbing trainer, and finish everything with light meditation. It takes 30–40 minutes every morning. I do it every day,“ he described.
He does not skip evenings either. He usually walks three laps around his large apartment complex, which takes about half an hour. He said that even on business trips, he makes no exceptions to this rule and always finds a way to move.
Empathy keeps the mind fresh
According to Lee, besides good health, the attitude towards other people is equally important.
Although in South Korea people over 65 can ride the metro for free, the psychiatrist, who often uses public transport, always buys a ticket.
He also avoids seats in public transport reserved for older people.
„If a young person sitting there sees me, they might feel uncomfortable and start doubting whether to give me their seat,“ he explained.
For the safety of others, Lee gave up driving almost twenty years ago.
„When I turned 75, I voluntarily gave up my driver’s license because I realized my reflexes had started to slow down. This was important not only for me but for everyone’s safety,“ he insisted.
The hardships of youth toughened me
Lee claims he has not had a cold for 40 years and believes he has a strong immune system due to a difficult childhood.
The Korean War started when he was in the first grade of middle school. In his opinion, great poverty and harsh living conditions toughened the body and helped lay the foundation for strong health that has accompanied him throughout his life.
