According to the newspaper, the passenger and bus crew control service contract concluded in September 2025 is terminated by mutual agreement of the parties from October 1 of this year.
Until September 30, control will still be carried out by the “Ex-Commissioners’ Office”, and “Klaipėda Passenger Transport” will pay for the services actually provided. From October, the control will be taken over by the municipality-owned carrier itself.
The head of the institution, Alina Mikalauskė, told the newspaper that six employees are being sought for this function. After the end of the year, the carrier will consider whether it is necessary to increase the number of controllers or look for other solutions.

The contract was terminated after an investigation published by “Vakarų ekspresas” in June showed that passenger control in public transport in Klaipėda was carried out by private security company employees who do not have such powers under legal regulation.
According to the newspaper, from April 2025 security personnel will no longer be able to obtain controller certificates.
