According to the sheriff’s office, a child, whose age and gender are not disclosed, was bitten on the arm and leg by an alligator. The alligator is believed to have been between 9 and 12 feet (about 2.7–3.7 m) long, reports the Daily Express.

As reported by the New York Post, the child along with several other children was stuck in a sandy shallow area in the Weeki Wachee Preserve and could not return to shore. They were rescued by firefighters and rescue services.
