Although the purple loosestrife is a short-lived perennial, if sown before winter it can bloom in the first year. It’s very simple: in October–November, scatter the seeds in loose soil, lightly cover with sand or humus to prevent them from being blown away by the wind, and leave until spring.

As soon as the soil warms up, the seedlings will appear on their own. Later they will grow quickly: first forming a lush rosette of leaves, and soon after sending out strong, tall flower stalks.

Purple loosestrife can grow in shade and grows well even in infertile soil, making it perfect for problematic garden spots.
