September 1st does not come alone. It brings back early mornings, club logistics, increased traffic, work after vacations, and the expectation that we will all immediately operate at full capacity. Such a sudden change can manifest as irritability, anxiety, difficulty falling asleep, or morning fatigue.

It is worth getting used to the new routine now
According to doctors, one of the most common mistakes is trying to change the summer rhythm in one evening. If a child has been waking up later all August, expecting them to easily wake up early from September 1st is unrealistic. The same applies to adults returning to an intensive work schedule after vacation.
It is worth gradually advancing sleep and wake-up times – by 10–15 minutes every few days. It is also helpful to restore a more regular eating schedule and morning routine. The fewer sudden changes we leave for the last day of August, the easier it will be for the whole family to adapt to the new pace.
In the first weeks of September, it is recommended not to overload the family calendar. Even if you want to start attending several clubs, sports training, or other activities right away, some decisions can be postponed until the school and workday rhythm stabilizes. At least a few free evenings per week help avoid the feeling that every day is an endless to-do list.
Phone rules – not only at school
This September, Lithuanian schools will welcome a novelty – by September 1, 2026, they must have prepared mobile device usage policies. According to doctors, this can be a good opportunity to talk about digital habits at home as well.
Putting the phone aside should not be understood only as a ban applied to the child. If parents check emails or news until bedtime, it is hard to expect different behavior from a teenager. At least an hour without screens before sleep, calmer activities, and a similar bedtime every day help clearly separate the active part of the day from rest.
Calming down can also be helped by simply writing down the next day’s tasks. Moving plans from thoughts to paper reduces the need to constantly repeat them to yourself before falling asleep.
When is tension no longer just a short-term reaction?
A little anxiety before the new school year, first grade, a new school, or returning to work is natural. However, it is important to observe whether well-being begins to improve once the routine settles.

If anxiety does not decrease, interferes with studying or working, a person has difficulty falling asleep, often wakes up, feels exhausted in the morning, or begins to avoid usual activities, it is worth consulting a family doctor. Medication should not become a means to continue living at an obviously excessive pace – first, it is necessary to assess the routine, workload, and causes of emotional well-being.

In cases of sleep disorders or anxiety, adults and adolescents from 12 years old can take “Neurexan” – a homeopathic medicinal product to relieve these conditions. It is not recommended for children under 12 years old. It is important to use the product as indicated in the package leaflet, and if well-being does not improve or worsens within 14 days – consult a doctor.
According to doctors, the beginning of autumn is eased not by a perfectly arranged schedule, but by realistic expectations: “There is no need to expect everything to run smoothly from the first day. The family also needs time to learn the new schedule. Sometimes the best help for yourself is not another task, but a consciously left free evening.”
“Neurexan” – a homeopathic medicinal product intended to relieve sleep disorders and anxiety. For adults and adolescents from 12 years old.
The indications for the homeopathic medicine are based only on homeopathy principles. If the disease course is more severe, it should be treated with clinically proven methods.
