In a few days, I discovered places that I would confidently call the pearls of Latvia. Sandstone cliffs from which it is difficult to take your eyes off. Towns where you want to stay longer than you planned. Castles where you can not only visit but also spend the night. A village where millionaires live without fences. Places that made me think more than once: “Why does almost no one talk about them in Lithuania?”
Many of these places are very close to Lithuania.
What surprised me most was that many of these places are very close to Lithuania. No long flights or complicated routes are needed – just a few hours by car, and you find yourself in a completely different world. One where history blends with nature, and tranquility becomes the greatest luxury.

Sigulda Discovered
If I had to choose the place that surprised me the most, Sigulda would undoubtedly be among the first. Until then, Latvia was associated with plains, forests, and the seaside for me. However, as soon as you approach Sigulda, the view changes.

It is no coincidence that this region is called the Switzerland of Latvia.
The Gauja valleys, sandstone cliffs, castles, and forests open up, so it is no coincidence that this region is called the Switzerland of Latvia. Although you won’t find mountains here, the feeling is as if you are much further away than a few hundred kilometers from home.
