Within a week, four prominent figures left “Lithuanian basketball”.
About his resignation from the association starting October 2024, the legendary national basketball player Linas Kleiza revealed in the 15min show PIKENROLAS.
“I am no longer part of the association. The whole last summer was like a roller coaster, a really long and unsuccessful summer, so it’s normal that the time for changes has come. A new president comes, new leadership comes, new changes come, so it’s normal that all this is started by new people,” L.Kleiza told 15min.

L.Kleiza told 15min that he had made his decision back in July, after a painful loss in Italy and the uproar in the country.
“My decision was already made after the game with Italy. Well, I wouldn’t say right after the Italy game, but when everything quickly shifted to other matters, to wars that I simply cannot fight because these are not my wars… I have neither the energy, nor the desire, nor the strength for that,” L.Kleiza told 15min. “Simply, continuing that work was impossible, but everything turned out so that Rimas (Kurtinaitis) remained, so the August window had to be closed and all relationships clarified in the fall. As we see, that’s what happened, changes came.”
