1. Sun allergy – the most common cause

One of the most common sun-related conditions is polymorphic light eruption, also called sun allergy. It occurs when the immune system reacts abnormally to ultraviolet rays.

The first symptoms usually appear from a few minutes to a few hours after being in the sun. Itchy red spots, small nodules, or blisters appear on the skin. The most commonly affected areas are the hands, shoulders, neck, and chest – places that receive more sun for the first time after winter.
