We notice that when especially large discounts or very low prices are announced, customers often shop differently than usual – they choose larger quantities of products that they use regularly or can store at home for longer. For example, potatoes often leave not by the kilogram, but by the whole bag, cucumbers are bought not only for the nearest salads but also for winter supplies. This week, and weighed blue plums cost only 79 ct/kg, so it’s worth eating them not only on their own but also making jams. Such shopping allows not only to take advantage of lower prices but also to worry less often about whether there are daily necessary products at home. Having their supplies at hand, you don’t have to rush to the store specifically for one or another purchase later, thus saving time,” says G. Kitovė, “Iki” communication manager.

By taking advantage of large “Iki” discounts and shopping once, you won’t have to worry for several weeks about what to put on the table for your family. Only when you shop abundantly is it worth remembering how to keep those supplies longer – so that no product goes to waste. And to prevent the daily menu from becoming boring, “Iki” culinary chef Jolita Tamoševičienė also offers new ideas from simple, everyday products.

Potatoes for only 29 ct/kg – an opportunity to recreate a popular recipe at home
This weekend’s star – Lithuanian weighed “Clever” potatoes, a kilogram of which costs only 29 cents at “Iki” until Sunday, August 30. Such a price that you could take them by the cartload – and it’s definitely worth it, because potatoes are perhaps the most grateful product for storage. Kept in a cool, dark, and dry place, away from onions, they last for weeks and do not sprout.
“Summer is full of city festivals, and almost none of them can do without crispy potato spirals. But their preparation only seems to require special tools – this recipe, loved by both young and old, is easy to recreate at home,” says “Iki” culinary chef J. Tamoševičienė.

Ingredients: 650 CLEVER potatoes, BILLA BIO olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, smoked paprika, grated Parmesan. Optionally – other favorite spices.
Preparation:
- Peel the potatoes and skewer them one by one with a metal or bamboo skewer. It’s easier to do this not by pushing the skewer with force, but by twisting the potato onto it. At the top, cut the potato down to the skewer and, rotating the knife around it, create a spiral shape and carefully spread it out.
- In a bowl, mix olive oil with salt, pepper, and your favorite spices. Arrange the potato spirals on a grill tray or baking sheet and brush them with the seasoned oil, sprinkle with Parmesan.
- Bake for about 30 minutes in a well-heated grill or oven. Serve with your favorite sauce, with grilled dishes, or simply on their own – and enjoy!

A delicious and simple idea – Korean marinated cucumbers. Lithuanians adore Korean carrot salad, so this recipe could become a second hit. You can serve these cucumbers after 24 hours, but the longer you keep them, the more flavor they will acquire,” shares J. Tamoševičienė from “Iki”.

“You can also play more boldly with sauces – if you like Asian cuisine, season dumplings with sesame seeds, chopped green onions, soy sauce, and a drizzle of sesame oil. And if you care that the dish is not only delicious but also beautiful, try a bright yellow mustard sauce. Heat a little broth in a pan, add Dijon mustard, chopped dill, a pinch of turmeric, which will give it a distinctive color, and then a little butter,” suggests “Iki” culinary chef J. Tamoševičienė.
