On the night of September 7, the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched an attack on this Russian airfield.
As assessed by analysts of the Telegram channel “Absolutely reliable source,” who examined satellite images, a Mi-8 helicopter was completely destroyed during the strike. Another one was damaged.
Reports of lost helicopters have not been independently confirmed by either Russian authorities or the Ukrainian General Staff.

The mentioned airport is about 40 km from the border with Ukraine. This military base is actively used by the Russian army: it houses the 325th aviation repair plant, which repairs transport aircraft and parts of Il-76 planes. The Russian 708th military transport aviation regiment is also stationed at this base.
The day before, Ukrainian forces struck the Rostov-on-Don airport, located in the same Russian region as Taganrog.

The attack on Taganrog is the latest in a series of assaults on Russian military aviation infrastructure. At the beginning of September, it was reported that Ukrainian soldiers attacked Sochi International Airport, striking Ka-52 and Mi-28 attack helicopters, as well as a Mi-8 series helicopter.

The Mi-8 is a Soviet-designed multifunctional helicopter widely used by the Russian military for transporting troops and cargo, evacuation, and other battlefield missions.
The Mi-35 is a modernized version of the Mi-24 combat helicopter, intended for both combat and transport tasks.
