„We really have an agreement with Israel. Israel is very happy about it. Israel helped us and behaved very well,“ said D. Trump to journalists at the US president’s country residence in Maryland.
“Hamas” earlier on Friday announced that it agreed to an agreement to end the war with Israel, which includes provisions regarding its weapons and the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip.
The issue of the group’s disarmament was one of the main obstacles to progress on the ceasefire agreement, which has been in effect in the Gaza Strip since October.
The US president announced late Thursday evening an agreement on the “complete (Hamas) disarmament,” calling it an important step towards a new Palestinian government in the Gaza Strip.
“Hamas” officials told the AFP news agency that the committee established by D. Trump’s Peace Council to govern the Gaza Strip will oversee the storage process of the Islamist movement’s weapons.
The group said it hopes that intermediaries and the Peace Council will ensure that Israel complies with the terms of the agreement, including the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip.
The Peace Council confirmed on the social network “X” that “Hamas” “agreed to a detailed roadmap plan for the implementation of the next stages of the ceasefire in Gaza (Strip).”

“Now our focus shifts to implementation,” the organization wrote, adding that the National Gaza Strip Administration Committee (NCAG) “will soon begin to gradually take over all powers.”
Meanwhile, a political source from the AFP news agency in Israel stated that the Jewish state will not withdraw from the Gaza Strip until “Hamas” “really disarms.”
“Israel once again emphasized that the IDF will not fully withdraw beyond the current Yellow Line unless ‘Hamas’ really disarms,” said the Israeli source, referring to the demarcation line between the territory controlled by “Hamas” and the positions occupied by the Israeli army.
Israel’s far-right national security minister Itamar Ben Gvir, for his part, condemned the agreement, calling it unacceptable.
Despite the ceasefire announced in October, violence in the Gaza Strip continues – on Thursday alone, at least four people were killed in Israeli strikes, including two children, health officials reported.
