Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump tried to use the migrant crisis in Spain for political purposes, presenting the sudden influx of migrants into the Ceuta enclave as a warning to the United States about what would happen if his opponents, the Democrats, came to power.
“It’s scary. Remember that image. That will be us in three years if the wrong side wins,” he was quoted by Fox News as saying. “If the Democrats win, your life won’t be very good.”
Later, he compared the influx of tens of thousands of migrants into Ceuta to an invasion and warned that Americans face a similar crisis on their own shores.
“Yesterday I saw what’s happening in Spain, and I watched the disaster unfolding there,” he said at a cabinet meeting at the presidential Camp David residence in Maryland.

“It looks like an invasion of hundreds of thousands of people into the country and the same will happen to us if the Republicans are not elected, only worse, on a much larger scale,” he said.
The escalation at the Spain-Morocco border began after an increase on Wednesday in migrants trying to reach this small enclave, mostly by swimming.
About 60,000 people entered the Spanish Ceuta enclave from Morocco during this migrant influx, local regional president Juan Jesus Vivas told journalists.
Meanwhile, Spain’s Interior Ministry said on Friday that more than 37,500 people have already returned from Ceuta to Morocco.
