Neapolis has become the best city in the world for food lovers. This is not surprising – it is here that the legendary Neapolitan pizza (Pizza Napoletana) was born, which received the highest ratings from the “Taste Atlas” community.

The ranking evaluated about 19 thousand cities worldwide and the same number of dishes, with the final results based on more than 590 thousand confirmed user ratings. The top hundred included cities whose regional and national dishes received the highest average scores.
Neapolis impressed not only with the classic Margherita pizza but also with other traditional dishes, such as potato dumplings with tomato, mozzarella, and basil sauce, baked with cheese. Pasta with shellfish, reflecting the influence of Mediterranean cuisine, was also highly rated.
Italy leads
The second place in the ranking was taken by Milan, famous for its creamy, saffron-flavored risotto. The city is also valued for Ossobuco alla Milanese – a traditional, slowly braised northern Italian (Milan) dish made from veal or beef shank with bone, and the traditional stew Cassoeula – a traditional, hearty northern Italian (Lombardy) winter dish based on slowly braised pork and savoy cabbage.
Third place went to Bologna – a true paradise for pasta lovers. Here, Tagliatelle al Ragù (authentic Bolognese pasta) and Tortellini in Brodo – small stuffed pasta in broth – are especially valued.

Florence took fourth place, where the main gastronomic star is the famous Bistecca alla Fiorentina – a thick T-bone steak grilled over an open fire.
The first non-Italian city – a surprising direction
The fifth place went not to Japan or France, as many might expect, but to Mumbai. This Indian metropolis was valued for its impressive variety of flavors and street food culture.
Among the most highly rated dishes are Vada Pav (fried potato snack in a bun), Pav Bhaji (vegetable curry with bread), and Bhelpuri – a crunchy sweet and spicy snack made from puffed rice, vegetables, and tamarind sauce.
