Our athlete’s time was 7 min. 25.84 sec., and she was only narrowly beaten by the European champion and world vice-champion British Lauren Henry by 0.14 sec. after a very fierce fight at the finish. A photo finish was also needed for the bronze medal. It was snatched in 0.05 sec. by the world champion Irish Fiona Murtagh (7:33.92 min.).

This is the first medal Viktorija has won in a World Cup stage in her career.

The first career medal rowing in pairs at international senior competitions was also won by brothers Domantas and Dovydas Stankūnai. The twins duo in the men’s coxless pair (M2-) A final completed the distance in 6:32.00 min. and crossed the finish line third, winning bronze.

Gold was won by the New Zealanders (6:26.86 min.), silver by the Romanians (6:29.46 min.).

Just off the podium finished Ugnė Juzėnaitė and Kamilė Kralikaitė – the Lithuanian duo in the women’s coxless pair (W2-) A final completed the distance in 7:13.39 min. and took 4th place. Another Lithuanian representative who started in the A final, Dovydas Nemeravičius, took 6th place. Our athlete in the men’s single sculls (M1x) A final completed the distance in 7:07.55 min.

Meanwhile, Mantas Juškevičius, Povilas Stankūnas, Arnedas Kelmelis and Saulius Aušbikavičius won the men’s coxless four (M4-) B final and took 7th place in the final standings.

We remind that on Saturday the sixth Lithuanian crew finished the competition – Benas Paunksnis and Giedrius Bieliauskas finished fifth in the C final (6:33.54 min.) and took 17th place in the men’s double sculls (M2x) overall standings.
