During the event, a dream became reality
The Rimantas Kaukėnas Support Fund constantly communicates with children and their families facing the toughest illnesses, striving to meet all the needs that arise during treatment. Sometimes it is simply good emotions that help to look at the situation more positively and believe in one’s strength anew.

This year, the fund’s community united for Ben, a young man whose youthful and joyful days were disrupted by a diagnosis heard as if out of the blue – lymphoma.
Treatment started suddenly, long months in a hospital ward, and the only thought running through his mind – “when will this all end…”. Aggressive chemotherapy was started immediately, and Ben’s daily life changed fundamentally – time with friends, entertainment, sports, and leisure were replaced by a fight he did not choose but must move forward in.
A positive attitude helps Ben do this – he accepts the whole situation as temporary trials that will only make him stronger. Even after hearing the painful diagnosis, the hero does not stop making future plans and dreaming, and one of his dreams he shared with the fund team – the desire to have an electric bike.
With the support of all the people participating in the Velomarathon and the strong backing of the fund’s community, Ben was invited on stage and presented with the gift of his dreams.
“The emotions are wonderful, I feel very happy and grateful. This is not just about the bike and how much I wanted it and that you all contributed to giving it to me. It is about the feeling that you are not alone with your illness… Thank you to everyone who supports and to everyone who contributes to the well-being of other sick children” – Ben thanked all the event participants maturely and sensitively not only for the gift but also for the unity.

A day full of entertainment and active activities
At the fund’s tent at the event, not only cycling enthusiasts but also small and big visitors of the celebration could have fun. There was a face painting station, the opportunity to decorate hair with various colorful strands and braids, as well as a reaction testing game.
Enthusiastic event guests could test their strength in endurance competitions, for which prizes were later awarded to the best performers.
This year, a group of well-known people joined the meaningful and active day together with the fund’s community, supporting the beautiful initiative and wanting to contribute to supporting the hero Ben: Vytautas Rumšas Jr., Raimondas Pasternackis, Greta, head of “Gerovės klinikos”, Deividas Česnauskis, Diana Dargė, as well as Vita Degutienė, who gathered her community from “Minam100” for the noble cause.
