Viktorija Jakučinskaitė furious – spoke about the "killing" ongoing for a year now: "True horror!"

On the social network “Instagram”, V. Jakučinskaitė spoke about a situation that has been going on for a year. The businesswoman, who owns a boutique on Vokiečių Street, was outraged that the street has been under renovation for a year, and the visibility and access to her boutique have been severely restricted all this time.

“How I dislike complaining and saying that something is wrong, but this situation is very tiring, and we are already thinking about solutions. I once again had a dream of having a boutique on Vokiečių Street. It seems very nice that everyone could come to such a beautiful boutique, with beautiful paintings, interior, with a nice selection, open until seven in the evening on Saturdays and Sundays. I think it’s exactly what’s needed, because you usually say, “I really like it, but can I try it on?” So you can there, there are changing rooms, but we didn’t account for the street renovation. Street renovations are happening, but maybe not for a year? Streets are usually fixed faster…”

“And now what’s happening in the Old Town, on Vokiečių Street, is beyond words, customers can’t even drive closer, the streets are constantly being rearranged. There were already problems with parking and getting there, just driving up to pick up an item, but that’s not all. Now there’s a problem with access, now you can’t even enter the store, it’s a real horror, we’ve been behind a fence for half a year already, or maybe even more, I know the renovation has been going on for a year, but how long the fence has been there – I don’t know. And not only have we been behind a fence for half a year, but our entrance is constantly being dug up. Our customers have to walk through pits, dirt, stones, and it has no end, we are already tired.”

“I recorded the first video in April when I wanted to complain, and now it’s June, and I think this time I will give up, because I waited for a year and a half and thought that business could endure for the future, but now I understand that it cannot. Not only are stores in the Old Town becoming less necessary for people, as people more often choose a shopping center or an e-shop, but also this slow killing of the Old Town feels deliberate. Everything is being done to make people forget that they once shopped and went for walks in the Old Town,” said V. Jakučinskaitė.

The well-known woman also considered that a drastic decision should be made to move the store to Kalvarijų Street, near the office.

“And I will have to say goodbye to my dream and the boutique, because the weather conditions are unfavorable for such boutiques,” said V. Jakučinskaitė.

Žmonės.lt contacted Vilnius City Municipality regarding the situation; as soon as we receive their comment, we will update the article.
