L.Lumer’s unusual turn – from a provocateur who often claimed she didn’t care about Russia’s invasion to a pro-Ukrainian figure who befriended Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy – has become the clearest sign yet that MAGA has changed its mind about the war.

“I just experienced my first air raid siren in Ukraine. Sirens are wailing. This is what every Ukrainian experiences every day,” she wrote in an “X” post to her nearly two million followers. “I often used to say I didn’t care. Looking back, I admit it wasn’t very nice of me to say that. We need moral clarity.”
Later, L.Lumer interviewed V.Zelenskyy in the garden of the presidential palace, where he admitted that his face-to-face conversation with Donald Trump during Pope Francis’s funeral in April 2025 became a serious breakthrough in their relationship.
Changing Minds
L.Lumer is one of a growing number of MAGA influencers who believe Russia was not sincere in its pursuit of peace. Ukraine, on the contrary, has proven to be a military underdog, surviving a four-year offensive and becoming a leader in modern warfare methods.
Two years ago, Tim Pool, an American right-wing political commentator and podcast host, called Ukraine “an enemy of this country” and demanded that Washington cut off military aid and support.
On Friday, he urged D.Trump to support Ukraine’s military efforts.
“Ukraine is fighting for its very survival against an evil dictator,” he wrote on “X”. “I now understand how important it is for Ukraine to defeat Russia. I hope D.Trump and the people of the United States will lend their support.”
The shift in MAGA’s position coincided with the administration’s growing conviction that Ukraine now holds the upper hand in the four-year-long conflict.
Opinion Changed Because of One Person
During a recent visit to Kyiv, U.S. Secretary of the Army Dan Driskoll was impressed by how much Ukraine has surpassed the U.S. in drone warfare and the integration of artificial intelligence on the battlefield.
He was so impressed that he described Ukraine’s “Delta” system, which integrates drones and other weaponry into a unified network, as “absolutely incredible,” while acknowledging that the U.S. has almost nothing comparable.
Ukraine now holds the upper hand in the four-year-long conflict.
“Ukraine’s common operational system “Delta” – their modular open architecture command and control system – is simply incredible. It fully integrates every individual drone, every sensor, and every fire platform into one common network. Our system doesn’t do that,” he noted.
In addition to spending some time with Ukrainian soldiers, which, according to sources familiar with the visit, awakened the “Army Ranger” within the Secretary of the Army, he returned to Washington convinced of the necessity to work with Kyiv, not against it.
Cooperation with Ukraine
Ukraine is no longer a country asking for aid, but an experienced technological partner.
In turn, the U.S. is now looking to purchase drones from Kyiv and establish joint production of its own unmanned aerial vehicles.
On Wednesday, it was revealed that six Ukrainian companies received permission to export approximately 100 drones each for military testing in the U.S.
“The MAGA community has begun to respect Ukraine, not entirely voluntarily, and I believe Secretary of the Army D.Driskoll likely paved the way for that,” stated Glen Howard, President and Chairman of the Saratoga Foundation. “The war with Iran helped realize the importance of Ukrainian drones, and Ukraine assisted the U.S. by providing help when D.Trump asked allies to come to their aid.”
According to him, the MAGA community accepts technologies like drones to a certain extent – they see it, appreciate it, and understand it.

Ukraine in the Context of the US War with Iran
As the conflict between D.Trump and Iran escalated, Western intelligence agencies determined that Russia was sharing drone technology, tactics, and satellite imagery, helping the Islamic Republic pinpoint the location of U.S. military forces.
Any efforts by the U.S. president to warn Tehran’s allies, including China, not to interfere, appear to have failed.
Ukraine instinctively sensed an opportunity to leverage this support to encourage D.Trump to adopt a tougher stance in relations with Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin.
In March, V.Zelenskyy stated that his country’s military intelligence had “irrefutable evidence” that Moscow was sharing information with Tehran.
He did not disclose the exact nature of this intelligence but said it was obtained from allies in the Middle East, whom Ukrainian forces had helped defend against Iranian drone attacks.
“Russia is using its radio-technical and electronic intelligence capabilities, as well as some data obtained in cooperation with partners in the Middle East,” said V.Zelenskyy.
Since then, the CIA and D.Trump himself have acknowledged that Russia assisted Iran.
By reinforcing these claims, Ukraine and its allies hoped to convince the U.S. president and his MAGA supporters that Russia is a greater adversary than previously thought.
This appears to have worked for L.Lumer, who stated in a social media post that the Kremlin had assisted Tehran.
“Russia is funding Iran and supplying it with explosives to kill American soldiers, while Iran has called for the assassination of President D.Trump,” she wrote.
At one point, Ukraine seemed doomed, abandoned by its most crucial ally after the most dramatic rift in the Oval Office. Sixteen months after that D.Trump-Zelenskyy confrontation, it appears that MAGA is leading the efforts to bring the two closer.
Preparing “Hellish Sanctions”
Earlier, UNIAN reported that Ukraine thwarted V.Putin’s plan, which would have been a disaster for the U.S.
V.Zelenskyy expressed his conviction that the Soviet Union was the most dangerous enemy of the United States, being not only an ideological adversary but also a competitor for influence in Europe.
Furthermore, the U.S. is preparing to vote next week on “hellish sanctions” against the Russian Federation.
Democrats have made it clear to their Republican colleagues that they are ready to support a document that President D.Trump demanded at the last minute to include Iran.
