“The threat remains very serious. We are still facing a difficult situation,” she said, but added that the fire’s “intensity has slightly decreased due to lower temperatures and increased humidity.”
Meanwhile, the French Ministry of Defense announced it was deploying an additional 500 soldiers to help “protect people and property” during the forest fires.
The ministry stated that the soldiers would help evacuate residents from areas threatened by fires and guard homes left unattended during the emergency.
With the deployment of additional troops, the total number of mobilized soldiers increased to 1,500.
Large fires have been raging in France for two or three days, exhausting hundreds of firefighters working around the clock.

France has mobilized its army to help exhausted firefighters.
French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez (Loranas Nunjesas) stated earlier on Saturday that fires in France had devastated almost 98,000 hectares – an “historic record,” he said. The devastated area is almost 10 times larger than the city of Paris.
So far, there have been no reports of civilian deaths, but two French firefighters died near Bordeaux earlier this week.
The government announced on Saturday that 197,000 people had been evacuated due to forest fires in France.
