Compared to previous years, the number of flight bookings to the Czech Republic increased by 18%, writes The Independent.
A study conducted by travel data analytics company Amadeus together with the United Nations World Tourism Organization showed that Iceland ranked second in growth – its result was 11%.
Denmark came in third, where the number of travel bookings increased by 8%.
Analysts say these trends indicate a shift of travelers from traditional European tourism centers towards destinations offering more cultural experiences, short city breaks, and nature tourism.
Despite this, Spain still remains the leader in European tourism – it is the destination with the most bookings and searches on the continent.
Italy ranked second in terms of travel bookings, followed by France, the United Kingdom, and Germany.
Overall, passenger traffic in Europe grew by 2.3% over the year, and hotel occupancy increased by 2%.
The study also showed that most tourists to Europe came from the USA. The fastest growing market was Japan – travel bookings from this country increased by 19%.
Across Europe, hotel occupancy reached its peak in September 2025 – then it was 80%. However, summer season figures remained high as well – from May to October 2025, hotel occupancy stayed at 73% or higher.
The United Kingdom had the highest hotel occupancy in Europe – in July 2025 it reached 87%. In France, the highest figure was recorded in June (82%), and in Germany – in September (81%).
Data also revealed rapidly growing interest in air travel to countries such as Uzbekistan and Tajikistan – searches for these destinations increased by as much as 64%.
Growth in Moldova was 51%, in Slovakia – 44%, and in Kazakhstan – 40%.
