On Wednesday, athletes face one of the longest and toughest rally days – a 408-kilometer special stage around San Rafael. The organizers promise a very varied terrain: participants will have to drive on sand, rocky sections, dry lakes, and fast gravel roads. The route will stretch from about 780 to as high as 2700 meters above sea level, so athletes will face not only technically challenging places but also altitude challenges.
The majority of the route will consist of hard ground and fast sections, but the organizers warn that dunes and rocky places, where it is very important to preserve the equipment, can also cause many problems. After two long days in Argentina, the third stage will become a real endurance test for the teams – not only speed but also the ability to maintain concentration and avoid mistakes throughout the day will be important here.
