This would allow the basic payment amount to increase from the currently planned 81.1 euros to 101.7 euros per hectare, and at least 25% of the mandatory payment allocations would be dedicated to eco-schemes, the ministry announced on Thursday.

“Our farmers are currently going through an extremely difficult period. In addition to high production costs – expensive fertilizers and fuel – natural disasters have also contributed: recent storms and heavy rainfall have severely impacted the upcoming harvest. This additional support will help farms stabilize their financial situation, survive this difficult time, and recover from the losses suffered,” said Minister Kęstutis Mažeika in a statement.
