J. Žukienė’s second term will begin on October 1, the rector’s term is five years.
The institution announces that Vice-Rector for Studies Professor Rūta Rikterė and Vice-Rector for Arts and Sciences Ramunė Balevičiūtė will also continue their duties.
Musicologist, Doctor of Humanities, LMTA Associate Professor J. Žukienė graduated from the Lithuanian Academy of Music in 1997, and completed doctoral studies in 2001.
J. Žukienė has been working as a lecturer at the Department of Music History since 2001, and has been an associate professor since 2006.
From 2005 to 2011, she was the head of the Department of Music History, and from 2011 to 2021, the LMTA Vice-Rector for Science.
She was elected LMTA rector for the first term in 2021.
Her scientific interests include 20th-century Lithuanian music history, music aesthetics, artistic research methodology, and music education.
J. Žukienė has published scientific articles, book chapters, popular science publications, conducted scientific projects, and participated in various working groups and commissions.
LMTA is the only university-level higher education institution in Lithuania and the largest in the Baltic countries, training professionals in music, theater, dance, and film. Currently, LMTA offers 14 first and second cycle study programs and four doctoral study fields.
