Officers of the Alytus County Chief Police Commissariat detained a suspect who allegedly attempted to commit a sexual offense against a woman in Alytus.
On August 26, around 7 p.m., police officers in the Alytus district detained a man born in 1976. According to law enforcement data, he is suspected of attacking and attempting to rape a woman on July 5, around 2 p.m., in a park on Jurgiškių Street in Alytus.
He pressed a knife to her neck, dragged her off the sidewalk, and tried to rape her.
According to previously published information, the woman was walking on the sidewalk and noticed a man following her. Soon after, he pressed a knife to her neck, dragged her off the sidewalk, and tried to rape her. However, he failed to carry out his intentions. When the attacker briefly withdrew the knife, the woman took the opportunity and escaped.

A pre-trial investigation is being conducted regarding this incident under Article 150 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania, which provides for liability for sexual assault.
The pre-trial investigation is being carried out by officers of the Criminal Police Department of the Alytus County Chief Police Commissariat. The investigation is supervised and led by prosecutors of the Alytus District Prosecutor’s Office of the Kaunas Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
