The Colonel Juozas Vitkus Engineering Battalion became a regiment

“Combat engineers have always been where it is hardest. They open the way for their own, stop the enemy, build bridges, set up defensive positions, neutralize explosives. It is noted that three decades ago – on August 15, 1995 – the Separate Engineering Battalion was established and has grown into a modern, constantly strengthening combat engineering unit. The growing unit will have more personnel, a stronger command structure, and will develop new capabilities needed by the Lithuanian Armed Forces’ combat and support units.
