“We are extending the protection of critical infrastructure facilities preventively. We have reviewed the measures applied, discussed them together with the Ministry of the Interior, and decided to extend the protection. We will continue to closely monitor the situation – if the need disappears, we will stop the enhanced protection,” said Minister of National Defence Robertas Kaunas in a statement.

BNS reported that the military is helping to ensure the protection of the liquefied natural gas terminal (LNG) in Klaipėda, the “LitPol Link” electricity connection substation in Alytus with Poland, the transformer substation in Alytus district municipality, and the Kruonis pumped storage hydroelectric power plant.
