According to Finnish media, a young woman went to a private clinic for liposuction surgery. However, the procedure ended in tragedy just as it began – according to her parents, after anesthesia was administered, Olivia lost consciousness and did not regain it. Although the patient was urgently transferred to Helsinki University Hospital, where doctors made every effort to save her, the girl’s life was lost.

Currently, the police have launched an investigation to determine whether the death was caused by medical error or other unforeseen circumstances. However, O. Oras’s parents believe that the clinic itself is responsible for their daughter’s death.
The news of O. Oras’s death, which became public on September 4, sparked a strong reaction on social media. Many hope that this tragedy will encourage people to speak more loudly and openly about the real risks of plastic and cosmetic surgeries.

The price of early fame
Born in 1998, Olivia grew up in Nice (France) from the age of seven and returned to her native Finland at 14. Fame came to her during her teenage years – she quickly became a social media star, and at the peak of her popularity, about 40,000 people followed her Instagram account. In 2017, a highly acclaimed documentary film “Perfect Selfie” (Täiuslik selfie) was even made about her life.
However, after the release of this film, Olivia unexpectedly withdrew from the public eye – she deleted her social media accounts and moved to Amsterdam. Later, in an interview with the magazine “Me Naiset,” she admitted that the pressure of thousands of followers became an unbearable burden, as she constantly feared making mistakes or posting something inappropriate.

Overcoming addictions and optimistic plans
Olivia spoke openly about the dark side of her life quite recently – in the summer of 2024, in a joint interview with her mother Johanna. The girl admitted that in her youth she struggled with anorexia and drug addiction. She revealed that several years had passed since her last visit to a rehabilitation clinic and was happy to have finally overcome these problems. Olivia then expressed immense gratitude to her mother, emphasizing that without her help and the clinic she found, she would not have recovered.

Shortly before her death, Olivia lived a quieter life – she worked in a family business that creates reindeer leather bags and sews custom clothes, and looked to the future with great optimism. “I am damn proud that after everything I have been through, I am exactly here,” she said in the summer.
Having regained her self-confidence, O. Oras had decided to return to social media. Her new Instagram account had already attracted over 16,000 followers, and she was actively creating content on the TikTok platform as well. Unfortunately, this new and bright chapter of her life was cut short by a tragically ended visit to the clinic.
