The publication reported that Slovenian parliament member Žan Mahnič from the ruling center-right Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS) urged the government to stop providing intelligence and security reports to the president, who ran in the elections as an independent candidate. The politician based this call on suspicions that the president may be connected to a Russian spy network.
“We categorically deny that the president cooperates with Russian intelligence networks,” stated N. Pirc Musar’s office.
The article explains that the investigation is being conducted due to reports about N. Pirc Musar’s longtime friend Viktorija Krivoluckaja, a Russian-origin Slovenian citizen.

The publication reported that at the end of July, N. Pirc Musar was hospitalized due to a broken collarbone after a traffic accident. At that time, V. Krivoluckaja was also in the official presidential car.
Earlier this week, local media also reported that V. Krivoluckaja maintained close ties with Roman Jeglič – a former Slovenian intelligence officer who fell out of favor and fled to Russia in the mid-1990s.
V. Krivoluckaja later confirmed that she had a romantic relationship with R. Jeglič and lived with him in Russia for several years. However, the woman emphasized that she has had no contact with him for more than 15 years.
