According to M. Raider, in diplomatic notes Moscow is asking foreign countries to take measures to protect Russian polling stations, including prohibiting demonstrations near embassies on election day. The Russian official did not explain how protest actions could threaten voting security.

M. Raider added that Moscow expects foreign countries to properly fulfill their international obligations, but assured that Russia itself will not “sit idly by.”
The IX convocation elections of the Russian State Duma will take place over three days – September 18–20.
A month before the elections, the head of the Russian Central Election Commission, Ela Pamfilova, called to revoke the voting rights of Russians who have left the country and, in her words, “betrayed it.”

She also stated that during voting in so-called “unfriendly” countries, people who have left Russia may hold pickets and “various provocations.”
Meanwhile, the party “Peaceful Russia” led by oppositionist Ilya Yashin announced an anti-war action planned for September 20, the main day of the State Duma elections.
The party called on everyone who opposes Vladimir Putin’s policy to come to the polling stations exactly at noon.
