“There are already thunderstorms now, and that front will continue to intensify, reaching its maximum activity in the eastern regions, where we expect heavier rain, there will definitely be a lot of thunderstorms,” J.Voitkevič told 15min.
“The east will receive the most precipitation – Vilnius, Utena districts. That’s where the heaviest rain will be,” he added.
What to expect in Vilnius?
Asked if the city of Vilnius would receive heavy rain, the meteorologist said that the forecast does not show it yet, but it may still change.
“The city of Vilnius should not receive heavy rain, but the rain will certainly be intense and of a torrential nature, but, of course, if the clouds form not as predicted, but move a little further south, because the main mass is now predicted a little north of Vilnius, but if it starts to move a little further south, then Vilnius will definitely also have heavier rain,” the specialist said.

However, according to him, even according to the current forecast, it is possible that streets in Vilnius may be flooded for a short time.
“There is a possibility of flooding, because a lot of rain will fall in a short period of time and the drainage system may not be able to cope with it. There may be short floods (…) If that mass moves further south, we will definitely get more rain – models predict about 30 mm of rain,” J.Voitkevičius pondered.
He reminded that the heaviest rain can be expected towards evening – 5-6 PM, and there is also a possibility of hail in the eastern regions.
