G. Nausėda emphasized that the investment agreement for a major project signed on Friday in Vilnius between the Lithuanian Government and DEMZ will promote economic and skills growth in Alytus and Prienai district and create more new jobs.
As reported by BNS, under the agreement, a Ukrainian company will manufacture ammunition and ammunition parts in Lithuania. It is expected that this investment will create up to 450 new jobs in Alytus and Prienai district. The amount of DEMZ’s investment in Lithuania has not been disclosed.
Construction of the factory in Prienai district is planned to start this autumn, with production beginning at the end of next year or in the autumn.

As BNS reported, the factory in Prienai district will be built near Balbieriškis, on a 30.6-hectare plot in Ąžuolai village. This plot is the only one in Prienai district listed in the National Land Service’s list of reserved investment state plots.
DEMZ is a major supplier of defense goods to the Ukrainian military. When the large-scale war in Ukraine broke out, the company shifted its operations from civilian to military production. The company has branches throughout Ukraine, employing about 4,000 people.
