“We look for suppliers ourselves and bring the products from the most exotic countries for ourselves, and we buy Lithuanian fruits and berries from local farms or grow them ourselves,” they said in a comment sent to 15min.
Representatives of “400 g” pointed out that even the price of the same fruit can vary significantly depending on its country of origin, variety, size, ripeness, quality, seasonality, supplier, and the specific imported batch. According to them, this also applies to kiwis – fruits from different batches can differ not only in price but also in size, taste, and quality.
“The fact that during a specific shopping trip one product could be purchased cheaper elsewhere does not mean that our entire assortment is more expensive. We have many products offered at competitive prices: ‘by air’ pineapple costs €7.99 per unit, apples – €1.99/kg, plums – €2.99–3.99/kg, and 500 g of roasted macadamia nuts – €9.99,” the company representatives stated.
In some cases, prices may be higher
However, they admitted that at certain times the price of some “400 g” products may be higher.
“Being a small family business, we cannot compete on price alone in every category with large retail chains that purchase incomparably larger quantities. Our strength is carefully selecting higher quality, more interesting, and unique products and offering them at the best possible price at that time,” the sellers explained.
At the same time, the “400 g” representatives thanked the buyer for the observation and said they value customer feedback.
