Meanwhile, the Deputy Prime Minister and head of Polish diplomacy R. Sikorski has already commented on the president’s first year in the new post on Polish radio.
When asked what he would wish K. Nawrocki on the occasion of the first anniversary of his term, he replied that he should “act for the good of Poland, not seek to expand his powers and create a presidential system.”
“It is already unrealistic, and it will only end in failure if he so maliciously vetoes and attacks the government,” the minister emphasized.
Interviewer Agata Kondzinska quoted the words of the president’s press representative Rafal Leśkiewicz, who said: “Do not interfere with the president’s prerogatives.”
“And we could say: Mr. President, hands off the governance of Poland, that is the government’s role,” R. Sikorski retorted.

Asked about the assessment of cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the president, the foreign minister admitted that it was a year of frustration.
“Andrzej Duda, also from the same political camp, signed 24 ambassadorial appointments at my request, while Karolis Nawrockis receives ambassadors of foreign countries and confirms their credentials, but does not sign appointments and does not approve the credentials of Polish ambassadors.
He wants to lead the personnel policy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which is not provided for in the Constitution,” he emphasized.
“This is a suicidal tactic of the president’s camp. With this obstruction tactic, the president will not achieve his goal,” R. Sikorski said.
The actions of K. Nawrocki were also summarized on Wednesday by Prime Minister Donald Tusk. Asked how he evaluates the first years of his presidency, the prime minister pointed to the attempt to block the European “SAFE” program, as well as the granting of amnesty to Piotr Staruchowicz, known as “Staruch.” He is one of the leaders of the “Legia Warsaw” fan community.
