R. Sikorski stated this on the air of “Espreso” and “Slawa.TV” while commemorating Ukraine’s Independence Day on August 24.

“We – in Poland, and you – in Ukraine have decided the following: we will never again be a colony of Russia,” emphasized the head of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
R. Sikorski also expressed the opinion that the spread of the name “Russia” instead of “Muscovy” was related to the conquest of Ukraine and the appropriation of the legacy of Kyivan Rus.
And he reminded that Russians have used conquest and assimilation as tools of subjugation of neighboring nations for centuries, so the fear of Russia “is not irrational.”
“The mechanism of turning people ‘Russian’ must be stopped”
“This mechanism of conquest and colonial turning into ‘Russians’, ‘Little Russians’ or something else must be stopped,” said R. Sikorski.

He stated that Russia must finally clearly define its borders and abandon the pursuit of constant expansion at the expense of neighboring states.
“Russians must decide once and for all where Russia ends,” noted R. Sikorski.
And he summarized: both Ukraine and Poland are interested in “Russians finally becoming a normal nation, that is, respecting the borders recognized by their neighbors as state borders, and beginning to invest in their own nation.”
