Currently, US tariffs on non-US-made cars are 25%, and steel imported into the United States is generally subject to a 50% tariff.
This latest threat from D. Trump came on Friday after North American neighbors failed to reach an agreement to avoid new 50% tariffs that the Trump administration imposed on certain Canadian goods.
When imposing these tariffs, the White House accused Canada of “discriminatory behavior” against US alcohol, cars, and dairy products.

Last week, D. Trump postponed their implementation for three days as Washington and Ottawa intensified negotiations on a trade agreement.
