Paid an advance, but „Wizz Air“ canceled the trip: 21 people left in uncertainty

The trip was suddenly canceled

A reader named Rokas contacted 15min, who said that on July 3rd he booked group tickets for a trip to Budapest on the airline “Wizz Air” website. A total of 21 people were supposed to go on the trip.

According to Rokas, if there are more than 16 people in the traveling group, flexible and attractive payment terms were promised, including installment payments. That is, 60 days before, the payment must be at least 30% of the order value and 0.01 euro.

As 15min was informed by the reader, the appropriate payments were made 63 days before the flight. Nevertheless, 52 days before departure, this group order was canceled, citing that payment was not made on time.

“When calling the group orders center, it was advised to apply in writing. This was done with explanations, but after 5 working days a copied formal text came – payment was not made on time. But it was. And evidence was provided.

For at least 7 working days we have not received any response to the submitted evidence. And time is ticking. Even if we made a mistake somewhere – please indicate it. Although it seems more like a human error (the system would have canceled immediately when the 60-day deadline passed). We need to plan the further course of the trip, book ground services – and here nothing has happened for 2 weeks, and it seems not because of our fault,” Rokas did not hide his frustration.

“What is this – legal embezzlement of travelers’ money in broad daylight (according to the airline, the paid advance is non-refundable because the rules were violated)? But the rules were not violated and it is not proven. Therefore, we ask and hope that publicity will contribute to solving the problem,” he added.
