Hot composting requires green and brown plant waste.
“Green plant waste includes cut or pulled grass, garden plant leaves and stems. Fallen apples can also be used. Brown plant waste includes straw, fallen leaves, tree bark, and wood chips. Large plant waste is placed at the bottom of the compost pile.

This can be branches left after pruning berry bushes or larger plant parts. Then, brown and green plant waste is layered about 20 centimeters thick. This is repeated until the pile is filled to the top,” explained the gardener.
The gardener pointed out another important detail:
“The compost pile must be of a certain size to allow the temperature to rise. Its height should be at least one meter, and the width about two meters.”

How to raise the compost temperature?
The next step is to activate the decomposition process and raise the temperature.
“For this, we use nitrogen fertilizers. Ammonium nitrate, urea, or other nitrogen fertilizers can be used, as well as manure or chicken manure infusion. We take a glass of any nitrogen fertilizer and dissolve it in 10 liters of water. We evenly water the compost pile. It is covered with a film on top. It is best to use a dark and thick film.
After about five days, the temperature in the compost pile rises significantly. At this point, it needs to be slightly reduced. So, we remove the film, turn the compost pile, and leave it to air for a few hours. Then we cover it again with the film. Finally, the compost pile covered with the film is kept for about a month. After 1–1.5 months, we get ready compost that can be used in the garden and vegetable patch,” added the gardener.
