From August 3rd, a new campaign “MiskoBank” by the non-governmental organization “Sengirės fondas” and the brand strategy, research, and design agency “Synthesis CG” will take place throughout Lithuania with the slogan “Let’s give old age back to nature.” This is a continuation of last year’s highly successful “Uncut Wealth” initiative.

“MiskoBank” focuses on one of the most relevant topics of recent years – pension funds. While some rush to reclaim their accumulated second-pillar funds, the initiative invites people to retire one of Lithuania’s most precious assets – old forests. Through joint efforts, the world’s first “pension fund” for forests will be established, whose capital is natural and dedicated solely to forests, and the eternal ecological return allows Lithuania’s most valuable forests to become uncut wealth.
The goal of this campaign is to attract support that will be used to purchase three biologically valuable, mature forest plots in Lithuania with all the thriving life within them. This year, special attention is also given to Group IV forests – those that have no protection from logging at all. A digital “MiskoBank” platform has been created to attract support, where ecological content is presented through an economic lens, and people can get acquainted with forests selected by biologists and conveniently contribute to their preservation through various support methods.
The goal of this campaign is to attract support that will be used to purchase three biologically valuable, mature forest plots in Lithuania with all the thriving life within them.
Last year, the “Uncut Wealth” campaign achieved significant success. The initial goal was exceeded by 157%, and more than 31 hectares of mature forests were purchased. The campaign attracted as many as 3,750 private supporters and 21 organizations, raising over 180,000 euros in support for forest purchases. During this initiative, three forest plots of different sizes were purchased in the Pakruojis, Trakai, and Varėna districts.
Young forests are being cut down
Using economic vocabulary and allusions to pension funds, investments, and banks, the aim is to draw public attention to a serious ecological problem in the country: only 1.2% of Lithuania’s forests are protected from logging, and the average age of all the country’s forests is only 54 years. Since they are cut down while still young, forests and the ecosystems thriving within them do not have the opportunity to live out a full life cycle.
The full life cycle of a forest, the ability for ecosystems to live undisturbed by human activity, the abundance of dead but lively wood – all of this is essential for the thousands of species living in forests not only to survive but to thrive. Therefore, it is time to help these forests “retire” with dignity – to reach the age of ancient forests counted in centuries without negative human impact.
“Last year’s campaign helped reach a large part of the public that was not actively interested in forest protection. Therefore, this year the goal is to change people’s attitudes towards old forests, the preservation of life forms, and the importance of nature as an intrinsic value. During this initiative, everyone will be able to directly contribute to real change for nature and address the problem of biodiversity conservation,” adds the foundation’s director Rimantė Paulauskaitė-Digaitienė.
A video clip specially created for the campaign tells about the deepest dream of every forest – to reach a dignified old age, becoming an ancient forest. The main ambassador-forest banker is actor Kęstutis Cicėnas.

Other well-known campaign ambassadors in Lithuania, Vaiva Rykštaitė, Tomas Narkevičius–Free Finga, Neringa Rekašiūtė, Lukas Keraitis, Marius Čepulis, and others contribute to the initiative’s goals by encouraging the establishment of a bank for forests and retiring nature to a well-deserved rest. The Lithuanian brand “labàdienà” is also joining the campaign, presenting a limited edition collection.

“Our strategy is simple – to establish the idea that old forests are an investment from which everyone receives a ‘return.’ Continuing in this direction, this year we again asked: what asset will be most relevant in Lithuania in 2026? The answer is obvious – pensions. Against the backdrop of the second-pillar reform, thousands of people have reconsidered how to save for the future. With ‘MiskoBank,’ we offer a unique alternative – to save not only for yourself but also for our nature and ensure that it survives until your old age,” shares Gediminas Užkuraitis, head of “Synthesis CG.”
Inviting to protect nature both in the city and beyond
This year, the campaign is joined by a financial partner, the Europe-based investment platform “InRento.”
“We contribute to creating more sustainable and better cities for people, but concern for nature should not end at city limits. As green spaces decrease, we must protect nature both in cities and beyond. Therefore, we joined the ‘MiskoBank’ ancient forest preservation project and believe that responsible decisions today help create a better environment for future generations,” says Gustas Germanavičius, founder of “InRento.”
The initiative is supported by companies belonging to the “Synthesis CG” ecosystem, which have been working pro bono with the “Sengirės fondas” since its inception – “Synthesis CG,” UX/UI design studio “Neat,” design studio “andstudio,” and public relations agency “Particle PR Agency.”
