On the social network “Facebook”, V. Benkunskas spoke about the tragedy that shook Lithuania. He recalled the high school graduates’ celebration held on Thursday morning, during which an award was presented to the tragically deceased girl.

He agreed to share his post with the readers of the portal Žmonės.lt.
“Sometimes the same day in Vilnius can be both very bright and the darkest. Yesterday, with great joy and pride, we honored 111 of the best high school graduates in our city. Five of them had received even 5 maximum scores in their final exams.
Unfortunately, the life of one of them ended in tragedy. This is an extremely painful accident, I cannot even imagine what the relatives are going through right now. I express my deepest condolences to the entire family, the school community, those who knew her, and all those grieving,” wrote V. Benkunskas.
The mayor of Vilnius also told the portal Žmonės.lt that the tragedy deeply shocked him.

Žmonės.lt reminds that on July 23, at about 2:58 PM, emergency services were called to an accident in Vilnius district, Ažulaukė village, on the road towards Nemenčinė. Three vehicles collided there.

Firefighters’ help was needed for a woman driving a BMW car. She was conscious, but due to damage to the car body and injuries sustained, she could not get out. Firefighters freed her and handed her over to paramedics. As it later turned out, the woman injured in the accident did not survive. The girl born in 2007, who was driving the BMW, died in the ambulance.
