The usual prices of some fresh weighed pork were further reduced by centralizing the meat preparation processes in the network – in two X „Maxima“ stores, fresh weighed Lithuanian meat is supplied already cut by suppliers.

Lithuanian, quality meat – in all „Maxima“ displays

After centralizing part of the meat preparation processes, the assortment and applied quality control requirements remain unchanged. Only Lithuanian products are still offered in the display – all fresh weighed meat is 100% of Lithuanian origin.

Moreover, „Maxima“ is the only retail chain in Lithuania offering pork raised without antibiotics. This allows customers to choose products raised according to higher animal welfare and responsible farming standards.

„We make no compromises on food safety, so we consistently check the quality of meat products in three stages – at suppliers, in the logistics warehouse, and in the store. At each stage, we evaluate different quality criteria – from production processes and raw materials to transportation, storage conditions, and the final product quality at the point of sale,“ says Karolina Aganauskienė, Director of Food Production and Quality at „Maxima“.

Additionally, the network periodically conducts supplementary self-control laboratory tests, allowing verification that the product meets all quality and food safety requirements even before it reaches the customer. This helps not only to maintain high quality standards but also to respond promptly to any possible discrepancies.

The centralized cutting process allows maintaining uniform quality requirements and ensures greater traceability of the final product throughout the supply chain. Moreover, the automated ordering system helps to more accurately forecast demand, plan supply more efficiently, and manage stocks, thus also aiming to reduce food waste and use raw materials more effectively.
