Help will reach more people

“Youth Line” has been providing free emotional support to young people by phone and online for 35 years. The organization receives about 50,000 requests for help annually, which are answered by carefully trained volunteers.

New volunteers are vital to “Youth Line” – the more join, the more opportunities there are to respond to young people who are struggling at that moment. Sometimes a timely answered call or message can save a life.

That is why this autumn “Youth Line” is coming to Šiauliai. Until now, the organization’s branches operated in Vilnius, Kaunas, and Klaipėda, and the new branch will provide the opportunity to learn and volunteer for residents of Šiauliai and surrounding towns. The aim is to make volunteering and the opportunity to learn to provide emotional support accessible to even more people in different regions of Lithuania.

In Šiauliai, “Youth Line” hopes to gather a strong team of volunteers who will become an important part of the entire organization. Currently, the most important thing is to find the first people ready to join and help create the new branch together.

Experience that lasts a lifetime

“Youth Line,” looking for new volunteers this autumn, reminds that not all important life experiences fit into a CV, diploma, or certificate. Some experiences are written into life.

To become a “Youth Line” volunteer, you do not need to be a psychologist or have previous experience. People aged 18 and over can volunteer after successfully passing the selection and nearly four months of preparatory courses. During these courses, future volunteers learn to listen actively, recognize and respond to feelings, build connections, conduct conversations, set boundaries, and discuss difficult topics.

These skills are useful not only in providing emotional support – they are important in both personal and professional life, helping to better understand oneself and others. Therefore, volunteering at “Youth Line” is not only an opportunity to be there for someone who is struggling. It is an experience that nurtures the volunteer themselves and changes their life.

Registration is already underway
