This is the sixth largest defeat in the history of the national team.
At the same time, it is the biggest defeat to Turkey and the biggest defeat for R. Kurtinaitis himself while coaching the national team.
So far, the biggest defeat suffered by Lithuanians was at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games, when, coached by Vladas Garastas, they lost to the USA team in the tournament semifinal by 51 points (76:127).
A 50-point defeat was suffered against Spain (59:109) at the 2016 Olympic Games (coach Jonas Kazlauskas).

They lost by 35 points to Latvia (63:98) at the 2023 World Championship (coach Kazys Maksvytis), 31 to Australia at the 2008 Olympic Games (75:106, coach Ramūnas Butautas), 29 to Russia at the 1997 European Championship (64:93, coach J. Kazlauskas).
A 28-point defeat was also suffered at the 2014 World Championship, where Lithuanians lost to the USA team 68:96 (coach J. Kazlauskas).
